Porto, sketch by sketch

Porto, sketch by sketch

Porto, the second largest city in Portugal, is undefeated in many fronts! O Porto é invicto em muitas frentes! The charming city in the north is the European Best Destination for the third time in a five-year span. But what has been making it so special for us, sketchers, in the past few months since the national Urban Sketchers gathering in 17-18th of September, is the work that was being done to publish the resulting set of sketches in the book "Porto por/by Urban Sketchers". Sketchers quorum

Urban Sketchers Portugal general assembly convened on April 1st. The official annual meeting had a moderate crowd, almost like a family gathering, except that it had powerpoints and spreadsheets. He even went to the point of buying the period's clothes and hiring models to pose for him in different settings around the town.Read more
The return of the prodigal sun

The return of the prodigal sun

After several weeks in preparation, the sketches done during the six-month challenge by Pedro Cabral to the Urban Sketchers Portugal has, at last, seen the daylight! Alfredo Roque Gameiro left Minde to work, sketch and paint in the streets of Lisboa in the early 20th century. Last saturday, nearly a hundred sketches, done by over fifty authors, revisiting the original hundred locations depicted by the notorious watercolorist settled in his native town to pay him homage. Depois de várias semanas de preparação, os desenhos feitos durante o desafio de seis meses proposto pelo Pedro Cabral aos Urban Sketchers Portugal viu, finalmente a…Read more
